Office 365 offers the ability to recall or replace a sent email, but this feature only works under certain conditions.
Here are the steps you can follow to try to recover a sent email in Office 365:
- Open Outlook and go to the «Sent Items» folder.
- Find the email you want to recover and double-click to open it.
- Click on the «Actions» menu at the top of the email window.
- If the «Recall This Message» option is available, click on it. You will see two options:
- «Delete unread copies of this message» (recommended if you want to completely remove the email from recipients’ inboxes).
- «Delete unread copies and replace with a new message» (recommended if you want to send an updated or corrected version of the email).
- Select the appropriate option and click «OK».
- If you chose to replace the email with a new one, compose your new message and send it.
Please note that the recall feature works only if the recipient is using Outlook and has not yet read the email. If the recipient has already opened the email or is not using Outlook, the recall feature will not work.
If there is no «Actions» menu available in the email, it may be because the email has already been sent, or you may not have the necessary permissions to recall the message.
If the email has already been sent, you can’t recall or retrieve it. However, you can try to send a follow-up email to explain or correct the previous message.
If you have the necessary permissions to recall messages, you can try the following steps:
- In Outlook, go to the «Sent Items» folder.
- Open the email you want to recall.
- Go to the «Message» tab in the ribbon.
- Click on the «More Actions» option in the «Actions» group.
- Select «Recall This Message».
- Choose whether you want to «Delete unread copies of this message» or «Delete unread copies and replace with a new message».
- Click «OK».
If the «Recall This Message» option is not available, it could be because you don’t have the necessary permissions to recall messages, or the email has already been read by the recipient.
Please note that the recall feature is not a guaranteed solution and may not work in all cases. It is always best to double-check your emails before sending them to ensure accuracy and avoid any potential issues.
